Welcome

Troy Christian Chapel is a non-denominational church located in Troy, Michigan. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds including Catholic, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Baptist, Episcopal, Evangelical, Charismatic, Methodist, Orthodox, Lutheran and Reformed. Our purpose in being non-denominational is not intended as a reaction against denominations per se. Rather, it is intended as an expression of the belief that the church of Jesus Christ cannot be subsumed under any single human structure and it transcends denominational boundaries.

Our orientation is evangelical, that is, we stress fidelity to the gospel of God’s free grace expressed in Christ’s vicarious atoning work at Calvary. This orientation involves commitment to the Bible, apostolic doctrine, the experience of salvation, the imperative of being Christ’s disciples and the urgency of Christ’s commission to his church. Evangelicalism cuts across the denominational barriers of both Catholicism and Protestantism.

As evangelicals, we affirm the evangelical heritage demonstrated in such historical Christian leaders as Polycarp, Irenaeus, Ambrose, Athanasius, Augustine, Bernard of Clairvaux, Blaise Pascal, Jan Hus, John Wycliffe, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley, Jonathan Edwards, George Williams, William Booth, D.L. Moody, C.S. Lewis, Francis Schaeffer and Billy Graham.

We affirm a kinship with all believers worldwide who are committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We hold in sacred trust our privilege of expressing this faith in a local congregation. We desire that all persons, regardless of nationality, race or sex, come to know Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord and Friend.

The Apostle John well stated, “Our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.” Because we are “in him”, we are free to reach out to each other in Christian love. The core of our fellowship is Christian love and Christian knowledge. Knowing and loving God helps us to know and love people.
